Science, my lad, is made up of mistakes, but they are mistakes which it is useful to make, because they lead little by little to the truth. - Jules Verne.
When I was a kid I loved the novels by Jules Verne, I wanted to be part of the the Journey to the center of the earth or Around the world in 80 days. Who would not love a life full of adventure. But sadly I was not part of those adventure novels. But now as an adult I am on my own adventure, I am not traveling the world within 80 days but hopefully in my life time. So when I was visiting my sister in France I definitely took the chance to visit Jules Verne museum at Nantes .
I went to Nantes from Angers. There is bus, train to Nantes from Angers and it only takes an hour to reach Nantes from Angers. Although I booked my trip through Bla Bla Car app, which is a ride sharing app you have to book in advance. It was only 7 euro for Bla Bla Car cheaper than train or bus. My co-rider dropped me the Nantes train station from there the museum is only 1.5 miles walk so I decided to enjoy the walk by the river.
I was lucky because the weather was beautiful and the 30 min walk to the museum was so enjoyable. You can visit the Nantes castle on the way to museum it will on your way. The castle has the old charm.
The Musée Jules Verne is a museum dedicated to Jules Verne. Overlooking the Loire river the museum will give you idea about life of Jules Verne.

It will take 1-2 hours for the museum most. Then I went to my next destination Les Machines de Li'ile, the enchanted robot museum.

It is a one of a kind museum, I have never been to a museum which gives you the chill of science fiction and all the Jules Verne stories. The Big Elephant takes you on a ride around the city. "Les Machines de l’île" is a totally unprecedented artistic project. Born from the François Delarozière and Pierre Orefice’s imagination, it is at crossroads of Jules Verne’s "invented worlds", of the mechanical universe of Leonardo da Vinci, and of Nantes’ industrial history, on the exceptional site of the former shipyards. Some strange machines came to populate the Île de Nantes. After the Grand Éléphant, this is now the turn of a Manta Ray, a Sea Snake and of all kinds of incredible boats to take possession of the banks of the Loire River. These uncommon machines were born from the hands of the constructors of the company La Machine and came to life in between those of Les Machines de l’île, in the public eye. Their backwards and forwards between the building workshop and the Galerie give impetus to the movement at the heart of the former Dubigeon naves. They convey a mysterious reality to this island just like the time when vessels were launched there for all the trips of the world. They are now making huge bird robots which will fly on the sky of Nantes and two passengers on their back.

The machinists who are working to place the Machines in motion and bring them to life explain how the mechanisms work and how they were developed. During the tour performance the Machines periodically awaken, suddenly turning into animals or monsters.
The universe of the Machines can be enjoyed by all generations and is perfect for family and group outings. If you have at least 2 hours the must place to go in Nantes is this museum. I am planning to go back there again on 2020, when the heron birds will be flying in the sky.
