Angers is a city in western France beside the Loire river at the edge of the Loire Valley. The medieval seat of the Plantagenet dynasty, it has an old town with half-timbered houses such as ornate Maison d'Adam.

Angers is called heart of Loire valley because of it's rich agriculture. The city thrives for small cafe and boulangerie. So let's pretend to get the warm buttery flaky croissant and cup of hot chocolate and start our journey.

The main attractions in Angers Angers are described below:
This castle has 17 towers : the Apocalypse Tapestry, the largest medieval tapestry in the world is now in this castle.

View of Angers from top of the castle.

Cathédrale St Maurice: Gothic-style Plantagenet architecture.

Museum of Fine Arts (Musée des Beaux-Arts) : this museum focuses on the history of Angers. Highlights of the collection include 18th-century masterpieces by French painters, such as Watteau, Boucher, Fragonard and Chardin.
The David d'Angers Gallery : beautifully restored with works by the sculptor David d'Angers.
Cointreau : the world-famous orange-based liqueur was first created in Angers in 1875. You can visit the distillery to experience how this delicious drink is made and of course taste the drink. Cointreau tastes really good when you pair it with desserts, and buy some small cointreau to give the gifts to your friends back home.
Terra Botanica : covering 27 acres, this is the first theme park in Europe dedicated to the world of plants. We had so much fun in this park, this is really good for family with kids too with lots of activities. There are 40 attractions and rides for all ages.

The world-famous Anjou vineyards : Among the 30 AOC (Appellations d’Origine Contrôlée) are Coteaux de l'Aubance, Savennières, Anjou Villages Brissac and Coteaux du Layon. And there is no extra fee to taste the wine. The wine county is very peaceful and short drive from Angers city.

After the wine tasting you can even go for a picnic in the vineyards or walk around the Loire river.
The gastronomic culture is rich in Angers, you will get to experience from french food to cuban cuisine too. the city has really good public transport, you do not need car :)
But the sweetest part of this city is the old cobblestone road, the narrow alleys and non familiar friendly faces of people with their espresso. I also got to experience the summer concert at the city square. If you want to take it slow, enjoy the summer vibes, good food with sip of wine definitely Angers is the place waiting for you in the heart of Loire valley.
